Hellen and Joy talking.

“I heard from Elizabeth,” Joy said, staring at her best friend, waiting for the flames to ignite. When not even a spark screamed out, she continues, “she has lost everything.” Still waiting for the flames, she continues, “She heard about how well we are doing and is begging us to help her.”

Hellen took a deep breath, then releases, as calmly as her anger would allow, “My grandfather said, ‘to get to hell, you must pass heaven first.’” Turning to face her friend she continues, “look me up on your way to heaven.” Rising from the bench, mumbling, “I am not giving her a cent of my hard-earned money.”

Joy pulled her back on the bench and screamed, “You are not thinking sister.”

Pulling her hand away, Joy lit the fire, “We made a pact twenty years ago, that whoever reaches the door to success first, we would share the rewards and help each other out.”

“And she did,” Joy said.

“When?”Hellen asks.

“Do you remember the first time we reach out to her because we had no money for rent and food?” Joy drags her down memory lane.

“Yea,” Hellen said. “She had us waiting for eight hours, you wanted to leave five times, but I…
