Chapter 51

In my haste to leave, I collided with a very short lady, who fitted the description of a native Hawaiian.

“Alohaʻoe i kou hanohano, e hiki i ka diamond huʻu ke mālama iāʻoe no ka wa pauʻole,” she said. Then she performed a curtsy before I could respond. She grabbed my right hand and pushed a piece of paper in it. Something powerful swipe through me again.

She continued, “ʻO ka ahi o ka diamond huʻu e hoʻopau ai i ko mākou mauʻenemi.”
I fought the power at the word diamond.

“E hele!” she pushed me towards the exit. I followed my feet.

A short block away, I read the note. “Hele lākou no kaʻaina awakea i ka hola 12 o ke aniani. Na ke Yellow Diamond e alakaʻi iāʻoe.”

I couldn’t understand what was written. My heart galloped at the words ‘Yellow Diamond.’ 12 o, 12 o, what does that mean? 12 o’clock,’ a voice in me articulated. So, whatever was going to happen, it would be at 12 o’clock. My eyes quickly found the clock at the top of the library, it was 11:45 AM. The screeching of tires held my attention. A black car sped past me and stopped in front of the library. Two men jumped out and rushed in. A few minutes later, they came out and started looking around.
