My medical bills were over $4,000,000.00. Yes, I have insurance, but I still have to pay much. Today, I went to the food pantry and met a former Green Beret hero who fought for his country in Vietnam and should have earned enough of a retirement to live well. However, he was broke. No wonder many people experiencing homelessness are veterans. Welcome to America.
