Duck was the “neutral” negotiator who turned out to be not neutral. He made an offer. If farmer Brown would provide the electric blankets, the cows would give up their typewriter. Farmer Brown accepted the offer. But before giving up the typewriter, Duck led the other ducks to make their own demand: a diving board for the pond, which they got.
