“I am the least of the Apostles,” Mary said to her cousin Brian wheeling herself towards her desk. “You and I are in the same boat. We need help from others. The only difference between us is that I am in a wheelchair and you are not.”

“But all of them will listen to you,” Brian pleads.

“Says who?” Mary demands with furled brows

“The last three times your recommendation got me the job.”

“Ok,” Mary agrees, quickly grabbing the receiver from off her desk. She dials, then said into the phone, “Tony, Mary here, Brian is he. . ..” suddenly she heard a click. Nodding to herself, she presses redial, then said, “Sorry for the bad connection, but. . … . .”

Tony’s voice was laced with anger and he threw out cutting her off, “I hang up on you. You are the only one willing to risk your reputation and possibly your job to help him. He can’t expect to go through life in the name and reputation of others. He must learn to live on his own name, with his choices and decisions. Brian’s name is no longer welcome around here, yours is, so unless you need help for yourself, my answer is no.”

“Sorry, Tony, I didn’t know that it was that bad between the both of you,” Mary apologizes
