I have slowed down over the years, but I like your idea.

What started as 10 pages a day turned into 10 pages at night. Now I am doing 50 pages so I make sure whenever I start a book I should keep it aside after reading at least 25% of it. Do it and you would know the difference between watching television or opting to get lost in the magic of books.
How I got back into the habit of reading?
