In one experiment, a chimp was placed in front of two doors: one led to food for him, the other to an empty room. But when researchers placed another chimp behind one of those doors. The first chimp chose which door to open based on what he thought would make the second chimp happiest. And it worked. It proved that chimpanzees are willing to collaborate even at a cost.
