Sgt. Booker sat inside Captain Powell’s office. He sneezed gulping down half a bottle of Day-Quil.

“Lorna still here?” Captain Powell asked.

“She’s going,” Sgt. Booker informed, sniffling another sneeze. “Juan Luiz just died.”

“How awful. So, we are now looking for a murderer with a killer diamond. The computer found anything on the Diamond yet?” Captain Powell probed, shaking his head in the affirmative. “Good job keeping that info out of the news…we don’t want every flake in New York to call the hotline. Let’s come up with a need to know basis strategy.”

Sgt. Booker nodded.

“What about Lady X?”

“Nothing there either.”

“Anything in the victim’s background that tells us anything?”

“Nothing! He is clean. He was a law-abiding citizen.”

“What did the medical report say?”

“Juan Luiz was a healthy, none smoking alcohol-free human being, who just burst into flames for no medical reasons,” Sgt. Booker briefed, still baffled by the incident. “Until she strikes again, we have nothing.”

“We will need a lead from somewhere. Send the florist’s sketch of Lady X to the newspapers?” Captain Powell instructed, displeasure at the only situation they had. The damn case for whatever reason had reached the Mayor and Governor’s…
