The Handle or the Blade

A teenager was behaving badly to his mother, grandmother, at school, even the doctor who attends … to him, were complaining … about his nasty attitude, and bad behavior. I took him inside and asked him to find the sharpest knife. He tested it, and gave it to me, holding the tip of the blade. I grabbed the handle and asked him to grab on to the blade. He stared at me in doubt and said, “I can’t do that, I will cut myself, you see how sharp that knife is.” I smiled and said, “Your mother, grandmother, your school, even your doctor, and other persons in your life that helps you, right now, they have the handle. You are holding on to the blade because you can’t do much to help yourself right now. And boy, you need some serious help if you want to stay alive. What do you think will happen to you, if all, or one of them decides to TURN the handle?” He stared at me in shock or understanding, or both, then he said, “I don’t like holding the blade.” When someone has power over you, don’t give them the opportunity or a reason to use it.
