Tempest Flash Fiction Under 1000 Words
Sgt. Booker paced Room 205 waiting for Detective Andrew Fong to pick him up. Minutes later someone knocked on his door. He quickly opened it, “Good morning,” he said.
Det. Fong was dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, shorts, and sandals.
“You’ve got to change,” he instructed, scrutinizing Sgt. Booker all over.
“Why?” Sgt. Booker asked.
Det. Fong smiled, “Because you look like a cop.”
“I am a cop,” Sgt. Booker reassured him.
“Yea, but Captain Gellent wanted me to show you around Hawaii before he talks to you this afternoon.”
“I am in the middle of a murder investigation, and you are going to give me a tour of Hawaii?”
“We Hawaiian Police officers follow orders, even if it doesn’t make sense.”

Inside the office of Captain Gellent, in the Sanford Dole Building, Sgt. Booker sat impatiently waiting. It was after four p.m., “Dammit!” he cried. ‘This was no New York City. Everyone here was so relaxed and easy-going’ he thought while scanning around impatiently. Captain Gellent’s office was huge.
