She had provided day care for my son for a number of years when he was young, so felt particularly close to him. That started what would turn out to be a nine year stay for my son at my mother’s house. He drove my mother to do her shopping, took care of the yard work, spent time visiting with her, and most importantly, he was family. He had different companions over the years, but it only ended when he got married and he and his wife bought their own house.
