It’s not like our ancestors had more hours in the day than we do. Women may have stayed home but the chore list began at daybreak with tasks including mending, butter-making, sweeping, boiling, and stoking that dang fire every hour. Not to mention handmade salves, cosmetics, and the hand washing of clothes. All this while canning, cooking over the fire, and most likely helping hubby with the farm work. And don’t forget the children under feet who were too small for chores of their own.
