I had three actual girlfriends in college (sexually speaking), and I married the third. We were together for three years and divorced after four; and seven years later I married my second wife, but in between I managed to have two long-term girlfriends and a couple of very brief affairs; so, in actual measurements of human time, I never really lived as a bachelor longer than it took me to feel really sorry for myself.
